Dinner Japanese style

Tonight Yumi, Akane and Kanako came to meet us at our hotel. We all went to dinner at around 7 p.m. We started off in a restaurant which served items on skewers, even cucumber! The majority of the meat was chicken, but we had beef tongue!!!!! I was a little dubious about trying the tongue but it was not too bad at all. We enjoyed a Japanese beer with our meal. I guess these items were more like appetizers.
Next we headed off to a restaurant to have Ramen noodles. Peter and I chose a spicy flavour and we shared this soup as it was quite large. Very tasty indeed, nothing like the Ramen noodles you get in packets back home. All made fresh to order. Each of these restaurants had baskets by the tables and I asked Yumi what these were for and she said they are for putting your purses and shopping in! Great idea!
After dinner we went for a walk to a very, very expensive mall which had a roof top garden. So beautiful as we got a good view of Osaka at night. It rained a little tonight but it did not spoil the lovely time we had with these special young ladies.
We were given gifts from Japan: Akane gave Emily a very cute growth chart with photo frames which will look lovely hanging in her room, Yumi's mum gave us some of our favourite Japanese crackers and a beautiful card for Emily, and Kanako gave us a special Japanese cake, some crackers and some beautiful pictures of Tokyo, her home town. Yesterday Noriko gave us a very special card for Emily too. Not only did all the girls come and visit us, they also made sure we have had a good time. We are overwhelmed by their generous spirits. We're lucky to have them to show us around their home towns and spend so much time with us. We are looking forward to spending our last day with all of them in Osaka tomorrow.
