We are here in Osaka Japan!!!

The top picture is in Beijing airport - a recreation of a Chinese Garden explaining the key elements of design. The second picture is of Jackie - a recent Canadian citizen who we chatted with in Vancouver and then Beijing. Jackie grew up in Hong Kong but studied in Calgary for his high-school and University and decided to become a citizen. We enjoyed getting Jackie's views of what it means being a Canadian and the time flew by. The last two pictures are our descent into Osaka. The area is like Ontario's golden horseshoe but endless apartments, industries and man made islands. 37 million people live in this region!
We made it after 38 hours of traveling!! We had to fly to Beijing, then Beijing to Osaka. We had 3 1/2 hours wait at Beijing airport for our transfer flight. We found our way to our hotel in Osaka and experienced the trains here. Everywhere is spotless and so many people!! It is 32 degrees very hot. As soon as we got to the hotel we took a much needed shower and relaxed a little then ventured out to get some dinner. We knew we were ordering Udon soup but what flavour we did not have a clue and the server spoke very little English. It was very good, we then took a walk around Dontonbori - Black pool on crack for all the British people reading this!!!! We had to buy some washing powder as we have a washing machine and dryer all in one in our room. We had to look for pictures on the box because everything is in Japanese.
Our suite is wonderful, we have a living room, kitchenette with microwave, stove, fridge freezer, washer/dryer and bedroom with a bathroom. We were surprised as it is quite large for Japanese standards. The toilet in the bathroom is something else!! It is all automatic with a bidet or shower all in one with different powers for the shower and bidet plus a heated seat. You save so much not having to use toilet paper!!
We are both so tired so we are going to sleep and I will add pictures tomorrow.
Love to everyone!!!
I have to add that when we got into bed after about an hour our phone rang in our room but we were half asleep and did not answer it, about 20 mins later it rang again so we did answer it and it was the front desk saying Yumi was downstairs and would like to see us. Yumi was our first long term student, she stayed a year with us and we have not seen her for 2 years since her return to Japan. We quickly got dressed and went downstairs to meet her. As soon as she saw us she burst into tears, we hugged for along time. Yumi has finished her studies and works in a bank 10 mins from our hotel. She could not believe we were here, to welcome us she had bought Japanese cakes and a beautiful card for Emily. We chatted for a while then it was time for her to leave as it was getting late. She has to work, but we have arranged to meet her for dinner on Friday and we will spend the day with her on Saturday in Osaka. We are so glad that we came to Japan to meet these lovely young ladies again!
